Hello all,

I'm new to the world of fly fishing, and I just recently purchased a 4 piece TFO Professional rod (I am interested in saltwater).

I just received my rod today, and I have a quick and hopefully easy question. The rod as I mentioned comes in 4 pieces. Each piece has a dot on the end of it that lines up with another dot on the next section to line up the guides easily. When I put two of the pieces together, it does not fit exactly flush, there is about a 3/4 of an inch gap between one section and the next (this holds true for all 4 sections). I don't want to overtighten it, and I was wondering it this was normal?

Basically, when sliding one piece into the other, there is still about 3/4 of the 'inner' section showing.

Any help is greatly appreciated!

Thanks.

That is normal, only slide them as far as they will go with minimal force, be sure to lube before assembly with some oil from the side of your nose. ;)

I have a couple of rods with spigot ferrules where the gap I so large you would swear you have done something wrong.

the dots are for alignment only, you do not want them butting up to each other. the gap allows for wear.
