Is there anyone here from North Carolina? I'll be in Troutman for a few days on business in November and would like to get out fly fishing for a day. I have no idea what to expect and am open to anything. I'm from Ontario Canada and have only driven through the Carolinas many years ago. From what I can see on Google Earth there is plenty of water near by. Any pointers would be a great start. Thanks in advanced,

Stephane

The water is Lake Norman. Not sure how much fly fishing nearby without a boat, but you might contact Madison River Outfitters in Cornelius, NC., which is close to Troutman, and they can set you in the right direction.

I will check into that. From what I've heard on other sites I will have no problem finding beautiful waters.

Try this site for information: http://www.southeastflyfishingforum.com/forum/ .

I would recommend searches for Stone Mountain Park and Mitchell River both of which have delayed harvest seasons starting in October both can be very productive and chances are if you going during the week you'll have it to yourself. Both are within an hour of Troutman. Let me know what days you'll be down this way and I may be able to show you around if your interested. Good Luck.
