If you had one spot to fish, from shore, the weekend of Oct. 7th-- where would you go??

Depends on the tide and wind and recent reports. I wouldn't make any concrete plans at this distance, but Manchester/Magnolia/N Shore seems likely to have somewhere going off....as does the Haba, etc

plan is to stay flexible and head where the fish are but I would like to narrow down the search area a little before heading south

Can you tell us where you'de to fish?

The south shore of the Vineyard will fish well at night. Magnolia at dawn can be good. Crane Beach at dawn also.

Without a doubt, the Canal with a bike. Follow breaking fish back and forth with the tides. Usually some great topwater action all day long.

From Plymouth harbor to Scortons creek in Sandwich is about the surest bet you could make. It's almost too easy. ;)

Stage Habor Channel (Chatham). Park at Hardings Beach and walk to the end. There is almost always some activity there that time of year.

Even better at night, if you don't mind jigging. Or at least it has been in years past. It's been such a whacked out season at the Ditch this year, I'm not sure what to expect, but October rarely fails there.

I have thought about where on the Cape is best. Most trips have been a bust for me including Race point. Any thoghts about poppanasett in October. Sometimes Sandwich harbor can be good. If I could only fish 2 places at once.

Sounds like most of the "usual" spots. I like the Plymouth suggestion, there are some good, not so well known, flats scattered in that stretch. Ever fish Ellisville Beach??

I have Oct.1-Oct.17 off from work for the purpose of fishing these waters as hard as I can. I would have no problem steering you in the right direction. The fishing in Plymouth during the whole month is top notch. If you have a vehicle with you, than you probably couldn't have made a better decision. While you will have no problem finding schoolies and small legals blitzing down the beaches, and a shot at a cow at night off the same beaches, you will also be close to the canal and areas on the Cape that will be as productive. Good luck and good decision.
