Reading between the lines of other posts, and from my own sleepless and bitter experience two nights ago, it seems the shore scene in DI Winthrop has cooled a bit.

Does anyone have a reports, shore or otherwise, from deeper inside the haba? Wollaston? Squantum? Worlds End? or even Nantasket? Or is the hbait not there either?

Anyone?

Shore guys only post about places that suck..if its great consistent fishing you dont hear a word:) Just kidding man, but I havent heard anything except when I was speaking to Jack Gartside a few weeks ago he said he caught a fat 38 incher from shore in quincy. It was very near wollaston but to be honest I'm not very familiar with that area..too bad since the guy virtualy told me which rock he stood on to catch it! He also intimated that there were quite a few big fish around that day he was there. Maybe someone else can give some specifics on bait ect. in that area or others...

Lots of bait around in Quincy and Squantum from what I have noticed. Saw a huge flock of birds near JFK library the other day. I myself haven't hooked up yet. School limits my fishing time! Anyways I have fished Squantum and have not had any luck so far. But I have only been out twice. I'll try again this evening. Anyone want to meet up and fish around quincy or squantum? PM me if you want to.

The fall action there last year seemed like it was four weeks straight - all day, every day - it'll go off soon, and your efforts will be rewarded

Well the effort did pay off last night. Caught a half dozen schoolies and one decent fish a few inches shy of the slot size. This was near Squantum/Quincy on the outgoing tide from about 6:30 ish-8pm. Fish hit the bushmaster fly and it was fun seeing them come up and smack the fly on a dead drift through the current like trout do with emergers. Will be back out there again this evening as soon as I get my first draft done for poli sci. Tightlines and best Regards,

Adrian

Bill, I believe you are right -- the Mass. limit for stripers is two fish per day, 28"+. Furthermore, I believe fish caught while fishing from a boat must be kept whole (i.e., not cleaned) until they are brought ashore. If this is not accurate, I am sure someone will chime in with the correct info.

I think you may only transport fully intact fish by both land and sea.

I got skunked in squantum on wed. There was definitly some bait around. They weren't baby bunker some other small bait fish? Saw a guy fishing with worms who got skunked as well. So f'n sunny that day but the wind was pretty strong and it was a bit choppy so I thought I might have had better luck then I did. Oh well there is always next time.:)

Fished around squantum in the rain last night. Around 5ish I was lucky enough to run into a small blitz of schoolies within casting range that stuck around for a half hour or so before the rain started to come down a little heavier. They were scattered and even after the boils and gulls moved farther out into the bay the fish hit on every 5 casts or so. Nothing of any size but fun for about an hour and a half. Oh yea...also saw what appeared to be a dead seal or something or another...a small one at that but it was badly decomposed. Pretty nasty. Have a good weekend everyone.
