Hi guys

I'm chasing a travel spin rod to take along on a trip. Anyone know of any decent options? I would prefer a 7' 4 piece - I realise Loomis do a travel range but they're all 3 piece. Basically I need it shorter than a 4 piece 9' flyrod tube is. Would be nice to pack to 65cm or less. That's I don't know how many inches or banana lengths or whatever it is you lot use. :) (As Grandpa Simpson would lament... "My car gets five rods to the hog's head and that's the way I likes it!")

Anyway does anyone know of any options... prepared to go for cheap as long as it's not too nasty.. the only option I've found so far is a Smith Bayliner 4 piece 7'6" which looks like a nice rod but I feel may be too lite in the tip. I'll be fishing 8 or 10lb braid over the rod for everthing from bones to trevally, and the rod will be used by a novice as well so a little on the heavier side wouldn't hurt. Casting 1/4oz usually though.

Ideas?

Chris

How about this (http://www.llbean.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/CategoryDisplay?page=travel-series-spinning-rods&categoryId=31672&parentCategory=500042&cat4=9965&storeId=1&catalogId=1&langId=-1&feat=ssdpa9965) one?

Price is certainly right.......

The TFO 3 peice rods fit into a 4 pc 9' rod tube - large diameter. I'm surprised that the Loomis rods don't.

take a look at St. Croix, I know they make a travel spinning rod. I believe my friend who has one got it from Cabela's.

Don't be afraid to make your own rod tube. I have a bunch made from schedule 40 PVC. Cut the pipe to the length you need, glue a cap on one end and secure a cap on the other end with a allen screw(s). They are bulletproof.

I own two TFO TiCR2 703H. These are three piece 7' rods which may not work for you. However, I have traveled with them and they pack well into at 45" long duffle. The quality is excellent for $100. Sadly, the appropriate tube costs an extra $25 but it is well worth it as the tube is oval rather than round. Thus it takes up far less room that a fully round 4" PVC case.

Also, the guides are all metal which should hold up better under the braid than some others out there.
