Hello i will be staying on St pete beach this week and weekend (Sept 20-26).
I was thinking id bring my 8wt rod and reel.
I have never really fished saltwater with flies but would like to try.

Where are good places for me to fish off of the shore or wading?
Should i bring waders?
What types of Line and flies should i use?
What should i be fishing for right now?
Will i be able to catch anything in the St pete beach area?
Are there any local fly shops around there?

Thanks for any advice!!

Jon

Jon:
Right now we have a bit of Red Tide, which may make fishing a little tougher.
I would head out to Ft. Desoto and try wading ther flats around the 1st bridge--use closer type flies in white or green colors.

you should be able to catch some trout, ladyfish, and spanish mackerel.

good luck--capt. chuck macintyre
