Chatham & Poppy

Went down yesterday to fish South Beach (Chatham) and started to fish the
drop off where the water taxi left us. Second cast, landed a 26" Striper
with a smaller one following. Started fishing east towards the bathtub
(tub) and had a school come up from behind me, Stripers, but unable to
present the fly before they were gone. Very windy yesterday, so it was hard
to see the fish on the flats, even as the tide came in. Rich Benson was on
his flats boat scouting the South Beach area and did hook into a few Blue's.
He was trying to spot fish for us, but they were out of casting range and
again it was difficult to see the fish with the wind. Stayed till 1:00 then
headed to Poppy. Lots of bait and Terns working the area, very wide spread
pattern. Didn't see any fish under them and kept hooking Sandeel's on my
retrieve. Saw illegal size Stripers carcasses in the water there, really
ticks me off.

One friend did go to the North Island of Monomoy yesterday and had several
shot at schools as the flats flooded, but the wind made it very hard to see
& cast. He did land 1 fish, 31" Striper.

Glad to hear you had a good day. I got your e-mail too late and I'm tied up until my current contract ends on Friday. Then 5 days to fish until I start the new position...

I think you made my decision for me as to where I take the family Friday-Tuesday.

How cold was the water?

50-51 degrees. Add the 25mph winds and it was chilly yesterday.
