The Red Tide outbreak seems to have lifted in southern Pinellas County!
With that being said, the Snook have been turned on like I haven't seen in years!
Last night, fishing the canal 'points', we hooked and lost at least a dozen--with only 2 coming to the boat for a quick release. Since these fish would not be taken for the table, it is imperative to release them quickly, so no harm is done to them.
With the full moon approaching, we will be back out there again the next couple of nights to continue this HOT action!
These fish are feeding on the abundant small glass minnows that have recently spawned.
A YAZURI slow-sinking hardbody lure (with alot of flash) has been getting the most attention.
Tonight, I will break out the Fly rod and see what one feels like on it.
Along with these Snook, we also caught a couple decent SeaTrout---something that has been somewhat scarce in these parts in the last few months.
