Brendan: Nice to see you out in the outer rip two Sundays ago in the gale. Fishing was actually pretty good. We got driven off the point to Gin Beach about 4:00, not because of any danger but because we literally couldn’t lift a backcast. I appreciate guides who don’t get wimped out by wind. Re. the critics of Montauk Guidehouse, I got news for you, Amanda, Paul, et al: Whenever you do a film or write an article all hands convert instantly to film critics and reviewers, respectively. I would have done a few things differently in Guidehouse. But, basically, it was a success. It accomplished what it set out to do--show a slice of guide life. Plus it was an intelligent fishing show--as rare these days as Montauk tarpon. You should do a sequel.

Are you doing a new season? Heard something about a California venue.

Watched for the first time this morning, it was GOOD, it was entertaining and light.
What made so cool I knew 3 of the stars, having been there, and boats in tight to the beach...Liked picking out who was who in the crowd of boats.
Since it blew a gale out of the NE and was an off day for myself, viewed it over a cup of coffee with my wife who fishes but doesn't fly fish and has never been to Montauk, she said the show was one of the best fishing she ever saw, and now wants to go Montauk to see what it's all about.

I finally saw my cousin and son in it for three seconds. They were on Amanda's boat with the camera crew and therefore couldn't say F.... or S.... If I had that constraint, I doubt that I could fish. I have tremendous respect for guides--good ones who care about the resource and love to put people on fish. I don't know any of the other kind at Montauk, though I have no doubt that there are a few.
