Well the first charter of the year went off without a hitch. The Sannizzaro Charter wanted a four-hour charter and wanted to leave around 10 a.m. Obviously not the best starting time to look for fish. We ran out of Bourne Marina and we were into fish within 10 minutes. The schools were mixed bass and blues. The bass were 20” to 30” and the blues were super aggressive and all around 6 lbs. The fish were on the West End of the Canal near Stony Point Dike. The blues were puking squid and some form of 1 ˝” long baitfish. They hit flys and rubber shad with abandon. They were not willing however to take surface plugs. The water was a little cold for that; it ranged from 56.2 to 58.1. The charter managed 40-50 fish and the weather couldn’t have been better. NNW @ 5-10 mph.
Good Luck,
