It's snowing in Michigan.....
Anyone out there familiar with the Pensacola area? My folks are retired military and spend part of the season on the Airbase in Pensacola. I'll have 7 days in April to wade and fish any tips would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

Pick up a copy of "Flyfisher's Guide to Saltwater Florida" by Larry Kinder - it will get you started - plenty of surf fishing on fly as well as easy paddle stuff it you are interested -

I grew up in P'Cola. There used to be some good spots you could fish along the sea wall and beaches on base. Since 9/11 happened though, I think a lot of that got locked up. Have your folks check with the base MWR before you get down there, they should be in the know of where you can fish on base. They also have a big marina on base, they may have some skiffs you can rent on the cheap. :) Also, go out to Perdido Key, only 10-15 minutes out the back gate. Go to the National SeaShore park there on the sound side (not ocean side). Lots of nice grassy flats to wade, Specks, Flounder, Red Drum, Spanish Mackrel, etc.......
Check the local fishing forums for Pensacola to see what will be biting when you are there.

If you can spare the change, go on a guided trip with Capt. Wes Rozier.

He is the man, as far as putting you on fish, and for knowledge of the local area. He doesn't hold back on knowledge of the fishery, and will probably tell you a lot of places to go wade fishing that might be worth the cost in itself.

Mark, Harry-
I appreciate you taking the time to send back a note. Great Stuff!
It's a great day in Michigan, the snow has turned back to cold rain and the Tigers are trying to put us back on the map.
Good luck on the water.
