Going to Harker's in two weeks to fish with my brother. He is an offshore nut. He tells me I can expect yellowfin, wahoo, kings, maybe some dolphin. I have a 13 wt rplxi with rio leviathan versatip. Big question is flies?????? Any ideas on what to tie (or buy) Do I need the fancy offshore junk at $20.00 a pop or just bigger deceivers, EPs, etc. Any input will be much appreciated.

I know the dolphin will eat anything...especially big white decievers. Not sure about the others.

BTW I know your brother likes the offshore stuff but you better be chasing some albies while you're down here.

Been there, done that John. The albies will be our bread and butter. This will be the 4th time I've been down there and will get plenty of albies, but would also like a shot at the big boys.

Lots of 6-8" bluefish around, I bet a fly to imitate a snapperblue would not go un noticed! Ballyhoo are prevelant bait .... look at "Halfbeak thread" here on RT for possible patterns.

If the BIG blufin show up at the Atlas tanker ..... maybe a big bunker or bluefish pattern (12-14").
But...Hold on.... smallest BF will be 200#. (if targeting BF, be sure to get your tag & release permit if fishing before season opens down there)
Good Luck John!
I'm just a little envious....

I'm envious too! A friend of mine just got a 40 pound King on a live bluefish, so a Bluefish pattern would be spot on!
