Worth trying Sandy Hook to try and catch albies from shore.

Never fished it before...heard it was possible to shore fish there. Any help would be appreciated!!

Driving from Cape Cod to HArkers soon and wondered if it would make sense to stop at Sandy Hook to try and catch albies from shore.

Typically yeah...but my Intel (my brother who fishes from a boat all over the NY Bight area from Jones Beach, Long Island across to Sandy Hook, NJ) says that the albie fishing has almost been as tough there as it has been up here in NE...a few good days and that's about it (although he doesn't fish for them, he would have a good visual perspective). Your best bet for the sir king alberts is to scoot right down to Harkers and try your hand down there. As an aside, I read a post where you were looking for someone who would take you out for some gas money. If that fails, I do know that you can rent boats in that area for much cheaper money than hiring a guide. The places I'm thinking of were slightly south of Harkers...over in Atlantic Beach. I'll have to research the names for ya before your trip. Good luck...wish I could go (I may be...but more towards the middle of the month).

Ablie Fishing has been non-existence. :mad: Stripe Bass & Blues fishinig has been getting better daily. There been some big Stripers caught in & around the Hook.
The latter would be your best bet

not true. there have been albies around, just not that thick (though some days they were). but with the weather being what it's been, i don't know if we will see them again this year... but i have seen them as late as last week. i do think that fishing them from shore (especially this year) is a long shot... i'd just go straight to harker's.

Your odds of catching an albie or even seeing one from the beach at SandyHook now is about the same as winning the lottery.
