Hello

My wife and I will be vacationing in Huatulco Mexico this winter (on the west coast of Mexico), and I was wondering whether anybody else had been there before and had done any fishing from the beaches.

The deep sea fishing is well known, but probably out of our budget for this winter. We are staying at Las Brisas, and my plan was to take a rod, head for the beaches during our spare time, and see what I find.

If anybody has fished from the beaches down there, any and all information or useful tips would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Cweb

I was there a few years ago. The hotels oftentimes don't want you fishing on their property, although there are some fish around to catch. The best deal we found was to go to the neighboring town(whose name I forgot) which has a relatively new and very nice harbor. When you get out of the taxi the pangeros will descend upon you with very reasonable rates for fishing. We went out a number of days and the value was super. At that time they hadn't seen alot of flyrodders but we did very well, they just had to find the fish. There were massive schools of bonito all over the place and you can also chase dorado and other critters depending on the time of year. You should have a good time, but I strongly rec. you go on the pangas instead of shore fishing.
