Going to Panama to fish the paciific coast off the Pearl Islands in Dec. Anyone been there and have any thoughts?

Don't count on billfish, but you should do well with groupers, snappers etc.

why not Billfish? I have caught tons of Sails south of there in Dec/January.... guess they are much farther out, huh?

If you look at the map of Panama you'll see that the islands are in a big pocket.
The best of the offshore fishing is out further. The best chance you would have is at San Jose island at Hacienda del Mar, but I assume you will be on Contadora.

Ill be fishing out of hacienda del mar----full day offshore trip---do you have any firsthand experience there?

I have sent clients there, and they did great with the groupers and snappers, really big ones.

Im going there on vaca for a few days while in panama. The charter captain told me I would be able to catch sailfish, tuna, and wahoo while doing a full day offshore trip. Didnt discuss marlin but upon reading many of the websites about west coast panama fishing dec is a month where I should be able to get my choice of whatever we decide to target. Thanks for your opinion and intel.

You should be able to tell by how much he's charging for the charter and what type of boat he fishes. Long run out for tuna and sails from there. Not saying it can't happen but it's up to you where this guy is willing to take you that's all...let us know how you did. Have a good trip, I love being in Panama anytime...
