I'll probably try Montauk on Wed. I headed over a week ago last Thurs. and never made it because the Sluice was wall-to-wall albies. I very much doubt I'll see another till 2007, but what an ending! I hope this horrible blow we've had hasn't scattered the bait and put the stripers down. I don't have a good feeling. We'll see.

I am going to try and make it out of Breezy this week and weekend if it stops blowing. Perch do you think all of the Albies have gone from the sluice by now?

Tommorow (weds) 5-10 winds from west. Sandy to Breezy sounds really good!

Gonna try Gardiners (and maybe Montauk) tomorrow based on wind reports. Surf fishing from northfork was slow today - ended up with 9 bass - added up might have made 2 keepers.

Out a ways from Eastern Plains Point (Albie Alley) was wall-to-wall gator blues. I saw something that looked funny on the horizon, and put the glasses on it--a cloud of gulls 300 yards long. There may have been some stripers mixed in; but the blues didn't give them a chance to eat. I caught six 10- 12-pound blues and left for the Montauk, which was muddy and fishless, though I finally did find hordes of schoolie stripers way out. All albies have fled south.

Yesterday, Wednesday, I experienced the same thing that Perch reported above. Arrived at the Ruins about 9 AM. Started fishing there when I noticed this huge cloud of birds off to the east. Turned out to be large blues attacking what looked like peanut bunker to me. Went to Montauk later and found north side very quiet but I didn't stay long. Engine started acting balky and I got out of there before tide really started running. Blues still active off Gardiners but in much smaller spread out schools on the way back.
Today, fished from beach off north fork late in the day. Was very quiet from what I saw. Picked up 3 dink bass on a white bucktail and rind.
