Each year in late Oct/early Nov I leave the bass/blues/bonito behind and head up to Western NY to pursue the magnificent Steelhead and Brown trout that invade the small tributaries that flow into Erie and ONtario. It's truly a sight to see - 50 5-15lb steelhead stacked up in a gin clear pool only 5 feet deep...5-10lb browns spwaning in 10inches riffles...check out the photos! --127-3-

YEs - its John Demarie - Phys Ed /swimming guy from Stony Brook - I met him when I was a GA in the Athletic department in the mid 90's and we began fishing together with the other guy - who was a facilities employee. How do you know him?

How was the weather? Are the photos of Stony Brook? Wanted to try oak orchard but been busy in the salt. Fished DSR Salmon River last weekend in september with fresh cohos.

Those pics are in a few Lake Erie Tributaries that, unfortunately, I cannot disclose. Otherwise, the guy who hosts me each year would cut my b#lls off. These are still relatively quiet streams with 1 or maybe two other guys out there all day...it's a real treat.
Fresh Cohos are nice - did they give you some decent fights? How big?

Cohos were very zippy like steelhead, all were around 15 lbs. Perfect size to get a good fight, land, and release. Some of the 30lb kings with the water current get ridiculous to handle even with a 10 wt. There's a big controvesy wether or not the salmon actually bite or your just snaggin in the mouth on the swing. I can honestly say these fish were still in feeding mode and were actually hitting estaz patterns. Pics: Brown, King, & Coho

SHWEEEEEEEEeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeet.
Nice Fish...Last time I hit Pulaski was 1996 and it was shoulder to shoulder snaggers drinking Schmidts cans and smoking Marlboro Reds - in the river!
Looks like they've cleaned up the place.

Yea, still gets ugly, but the Douglason is managed very well and gets a large crowd of fly and spey fisherman that put out a good vibe. The rest of the river has rangers ticketing snaggers. But you still see the guys your talking about in the regular holes dragging thier fish thru the dirt and pavement on a rope.
