Not a huge amount of access in that area. I would ask the folks at Sportsman's Den in Cos Cob, CT for suggestions.
In Rye, there is access at the Marsh Lands Conservation Center on Rte 1 and the town pier on Milton Point. I'm not sure there will be fish, though.
Sorry I couldn't be more helpful.

You may also want to try and contact captain paul kooperman. He is a fly fishing guide out of rowayton ct. (which is close to larchmont) and I'm told he is excellent. He is a member of this sight but I havn't seen him post in quite a while ....try private messaging captkoop on this sight.

You can try Glen Island County Park. It's not far away and you should be able to hook into a few fish there.

You have a striper migration going on now through the Sound. Everybody's moving toward the Bridges and the East River. Come Thanksgiving there should still be good fishing, but it may be mostly West of Larchmont, at least from shore on the Westchester side, but maybe not. Perhaps there will be A LOT of fish moving through this year, and they'll still be coming through big tiime when you're here. From shore do your angling in the dark. Try Manor Park which is in Larchmont Harbor - park your car away from the Park and walk down to it -, or drive up to Penfield Reef in Fairfield, CT, Exit 21 on 95. The beaches off Westport, CT could be good too (could be good during the day also). You can also try around Playland Amusement Park and beaches in Rye, NY. If lots of schools of migrating bass are in the vicinity, they'll be on the shore in the dark.
If you can get a boat, get your butt over to the mouth of Hempstead Harbor (the other side of the Sound across from Rye on the North Shore of Long Island) in daylight and look for the birds over the feeding bass. Look along the shore from there all the way to the Throgs Neck Bridge if you see nothing at Hempstead. You'll run into something along the way.
If you want a guide call Capt. Ian Devlin in Rowayton, who is excellent (and a great Tarpon Guide in Boca grande, FL, too, by the way) - call the Complete Angler in Darien, CT for his number- or perhaps Capt. Billy Herold in Rye, NY, -in phone book- who perhaps knows the Western Sound comprehensively better than anybody ever.
The guys at The Sportsmen's Den in Cos Cob, CT (nearby Greenwich) will know just where the bass currently are when you're here too.
Happy Turkey Day,
Mark

Thanks all for the info, I would love to do a boat trip, but I've got to plan this to please a number of people - so places like Glen Island, Playland and Manor Park are Ideal and would make everyone happy......
I'm planning to introduce my 12 year old nephew to seabass, I want to come with a nice, but not expensive spinning rod for this even as a gift.....I was looking at the rods in walmart and they are just the $$ investment I want to make, but the choices overwhelmed me. What pound test line should I be looking for to chase stripers on a spinning rod?
I visited NY F&G and from what I can gather as in NH & ME you don't need a saltwater license, am I right?
I will be sure to place a report when I return home...

No SW License required.
Regarding a rod, I would suggest a spinnng rod rated for lures from 1/2 to 1 oz. Lt./ Med. saltwater with a reel rated for 12 lb. test an up. Alot depends on where he will be fishing.

I just found out that Manor Park in Larchmont Harbor does not allow any fishing at all.
Do they have posted signs???

I live in Larchmont. Not sure if it's posted or not. I think if you fished dawn/dusk discretely, no one would hassle you. Be careful on the rocks.

Know of anywhere else close by that I can bring my 12year old nephew without worry of being kicked out? He lives in Larchmont as well.

Penfield Reef in Fairfield, CT, Exit 21 on 95 is a good spot. Go to center of town and take Reef Road to the end. There are a few parking spots after the road turns to the right.
Be very careful though. I would fish the outgoing tide only because you can get cut off from the beach on the incoming.
Nice open area there. Great for spin or fly.
