I'm moving to Morehead city this week, and from the looks of the posts here, I'm going to enjoy it. I'm coming from Nh and used to fishing for stripers and blues. I don't expect any secret spots, but any advice on where/when to fish in the area would be greatly appreciated.

welcome, your in for a treat, dont know where to start for ya, but you can catch fish down here almost thru the whole year, what do you like? trolling, flats fishing, drifting, wading, surf casting, lots of opps in nc.
learn beaufort inlet, and the hook area, and how to throw a cast net, lol
also the pamlico will be fun also, (where the neuse runs in).
the roanoke river up in weldon is world class for shad/stripers in the spring, and if it gets cold enough down here you'll get the big stripers around the shoals in jan.
theres cobia, bonita, spanish, drum, tarpon, albies, trout, spot/crocker all in close,
go to tackle shops and pick brains, get out there and wet a line,
good luck

It's hard to know where to start, but albiechaser hit all the good points(plus we have awesome offshore fishing without going far out...tuna, dolphin, wahoo, king mackeral, etc). Welcome to the area, this section of NC is as good as it gets for someone into saltwater fishing...whoops, I hope nobody else heard me say that:) If you have any specific questions feel free to pm me and I'll try to steer you in the right direction. If you're moving into town this month, think albies, speckled trout and red drum;)
