Looking for some information, I went to Harkers for the Albies last week, was there from 11-11 through 11-17 with four other friends and saw the albies only once. Did not have a boat, we mainly fished from shore at the usual spots out of the Harkers Island Fishing Center and Calico Jacks. Both places were very accommodating and the people at both places were awsome.

Every place we went to in the area the people were extremely friendly and courteous, a rare treat these days. We stayed at Atlantic Beach for the week, I traded in one of my time shares and it was a great place to operate from. Anyway the info I was looking for pertains to the Trout Fishing and Redfish. We managed to find a few places to fish from shore and had a couple of great days which made up for the lack of Albies. What I was wondering about was what is the Trout and Redfish fishing like in the September and October time frame.

We liked the area so much and had such a great time on the Trout and Redfish we decided that we want to go back and fish for them next year. The problem is we can't go back in November. Is the fishing as good in September/October or do the Trout and Reds stack up later in the year like they were this November.

I need to plan ahead because it usually takes some time to get a trade on the time share, and to give my working friends enough time to schedual their vacation in work.

Any info would be greatly appreciated.

You'll have just as good of luck fishing for them in sept/oct. They're just not all in the same place. In november a lot of the trout and drum are migrating out onto the beaches to feed and some are still back in the marsh. In the earlier months they are all thick back in the marsh. The drum are especially plentiful and hungry on the backside in sept/oct. Come on back down next year, you'll have fun.

Redfishing is phenomenal in September and October! We have great tides around the new and full moons for chasing tailing reds on the grass flats and big pods of shrimp with reds pushing them down the shoreline. Not all that accessible to the angler without a flats skiff however. Check my past reports on this page and on my website. Trout fishing doesn't really get going until sometime in the middle of October and is still quite good (got a half dozen for dinner last night in about 2 hours). As far as the people around here are concerned.. I have lived in a lot of places in my life and this is the first place where I really feel like I am home. I never understand why people go other places and get treated like dirt when they can come here and feel welcome by everyone they meet.
