Took afternoon off. Went out for what is probably the last trip of the year to Gardiners Island. Weather was unusually mild with calm winds. Got out there at 1:30 PM which was basically 1/2 hour before slack. Lots of sea ducks (scoters, buffleheads, old squaws) and loons plus a few gannets but no fish.Things were real quiet but a very nice afternoon. Was all by myself until one other boat showed up in the rips about 3:30 PM. Didn't see any gulls or terns working anywhere from Greenport to the Ruins. Left at 4 pm as I didn't feel confident staying longer with an engine that stalled at idle or low rpm. If it is my last trip I enjoyed it - nice ride back on velvet seas with purple skys.
