Going to be on Anna Maria Island (near Tampa St. Pete) over Christmas.

Any general info on fishing the area that time of year will be appreciated.

Feel free to PM me if its easier.

Thx.

Try the Reel Time search & type in west gulf coast fishing or tampa. Seems there isn't much on Sarasota/Bradenton/Venice area. Didn't try Siesta Key nor Longboat Key nor Cortez.

I've been down to anna maria quite a few times over the past ten years or so. Plenty of fishing opportunities, though winter can be slow. Will you have access to a boat? Strictly fly? Great island, great food too.

Great food eh? Any restaurant suggestions?

Don't have a boat but it looks like I can rent one. I'd rather fly fish but am bringing the spinning rod.

Thx.

Sorry I took so long to reply - hope that you haven’t left yet. I’m more than happy to burn restaurant spots - I like Mr. Bones for BBQ chicken and ribs (usually take out from there with a bottle of wine or six-pack and eat on the water), Bridge Tenders (bar section) for a lunchtime burger and margarita, Calamari and a mai-tai at the Sandbar on the beach, Patti Georges on Longboat for a martini and the “sushi” rolls and thai green curry grouper, "upstairs" at Euphemia Haye on Longboat is a must but only for dessert and a flammable coffee, Crab and Fin in St. Armand’s circle for an upscale meal – they have a great selection of fresh seafood on any given night. :-%
