Have a friend looking for some recommendations for a guide to use and species to target for a 1-day trip while they're in the FL Keys towards the end of January 2007.

All comments & ideas appreciated :-% !

Capt Tony Skinner. I fish with Tony a couple times a year. The last two, I got my Slam.

What type of fishing are you looking for? Flats/Backcountry or light tackle reef/wreck/offshore.

Winter time is a little slow on the flats but you can always find cudas and sharks to throw a fly at. If the weather is decent you will get shots at Permit and use a live crab on a spin rig to be sure it eats. Fly Permit is a tough game. There are resident Tarpon around and all guides can find them as well.

Offshore is where Key West shines. The winter is full gear fishing on and just beyond the reef. Sailfish, Dolphin, King Mackerel, Spanish and Cero Mackerel, Amberjack, Grouper, Snapper, Cobia, Sharks. You will have rods bending all day long and catch a huge variety of fish. You can use fly rods, spin gear, conventional.
