Fishing a bunch the last five days. I have been starting out wade fishing the very low tides in the late morning with 8/9 weight outfitts. We are fishing floating lines with the chartruse and white EP floating flies with 9' leaders that break down to 15 lb. test. This means we get bit more, and sometime loose the big ones. We lost two nice snook yesterday after we got back into the boat and worked into a long narrow stream that was full of snook and one massive red. We have not hooked any baby tarpon lately, but I am sure they are around somewhere. In addition the coves just inside the Gulf beaches are fishing more like September than January. There are schools of Reds from 2-8 lbs. working in with the tides all day. Again the best way I have found for catching these fish is to get out of the boat and wade to them. And of course loads of trout on the grass flats with ladyfish and small jacks....
