Looks like I might have a few days in Miami in March - 18-21 and wondered what we would be our best shots
Any Suggestions gratefully received
Thanks, Charles

March can be hot in South Florida, especially offshore. A day with sails, mahi, kings and a shot a wahoo or blackfin would be very possible. The water is getting warm and tarpon are just starting to move so the inshore scene can be pretty good.
My choice of trips would a light tackle sail fish trip as you will most likely get multiple shots at that time of year. Sails are a blast on light tackle.
There are plenty of good guides. Lucky 27 who is often here is well talked of as well as other such as Ray Rosher, Dean Panos, Bouncer Smith .......

That's a premium month everywhere down here. If you're thinking of heading inshore there's world class fly fishing for small tarpon every night in the urban portions of Biscayne Bay. All of the bridges that connect Miami to Miami Beach hold a great population of 20 to 40lb tarpon now (with an occasional 50 or 60...) for sight fishing with an 8 or 9wt rod. In the backcountry of the Everglades, particularly out of Flamingo, it's tarpon as big as they get. When the Keys are hoping for their first spring-time tarpon, we've got them in the interior bays and nearby rivers along the Gulf coast of the 'Glades. The only drawback to fishing in March can be the weather. At times it just howls... when the conditions turn sour we head way back into the bushes and hunt reds and snook in water too shallow for a trolling motor. My two best times each year are March-April then September-October...
