I know some of you die hards may be planning on fishing the Bass Masters tournament at Chancey next weekend. But for those that like peace, quiet, a hot grill and lots of action and some friendly ribbing. I will host a get together at Weaquaket on the Cape. This is the second largest lake on the cape, and is located a short distance off exit 5 (rt 132). Now I know a bunch of you travel this far for summer stripers. This lake offers pike, pickeral, bass, and yellow perch. The yellow perch action can be incredible. About wednesday I'll do some calls to be sure we have safe ice so we can plan accordingly. Who's interested?

Count me in. This week looks cold enough to insure ice.

If we could have it some place warm, like at a local coffee shop, I'll be there. :brow

Bob this is almost in your back yard. Must be a coffee shop with in 5 minutes. I'll have a hot charcoal grill, bring some quahogs and I'll supply the tobasco.

Yea, but it's gonna be cold!
Maybe we could just have the clave at a Dunkin Donuts, and all drink iced coffee. :-% :brow

Well you could put a few tip ups close to shore and sit in your car or wave to us(assuming someone other than me shows up) farther out.

I think Bob and I have the same view on ice fishing.

I'm happy waiting until April for saltwater adventures.

So how did you guys do? And how thick was the ice? I might be there tomorrow. Thanks.

Fished Wequaquet on saturday. Fishing was good, Lots of other people on the ice fishing but unfortuneately no reel-times joined me. Caught perch all day long. Some of these would put to shame the little schoolies we catch in the spring. On occasion had three flags up.

Fished Wakeby-Mashpee on sunday, fewer people fishing, was a bit to the right of the ramp. Apparently the wind created open water up to three days ago. Caught more perch through out the day, but overall few and smaller.

Ice was almost 8" thick at Wequaquet, Maybe 7 at Mashpee in the refrozen section.

Sorry I missed you, Bob. I stopped by around 2 PM on Saturday, but the lot was full. Took a few passes back and forth and gave up.

Got out on Sunday morning...only found small perch and pickerel.

Maybe next time. :D
