I'm ready to go! My OLD Orvis "far and fine" got stolen out of my car, and didnt feel like blowing another 300 (plus) bucks to get a rod/reel/line combo.
Here is what I have for my all-round "trout-fit" this year
---Sage FLI (4wt) 7.5ft
---Rio WF / F 4wt line
---Cabelas CSR(1) Reel
Those three things above should get me anywhere from crazy-small brookie streams like Gulf Brook, (I cant tell you exactly where, call Todd Richards at Mass Wildlife) all the way up through chucking weighted nymph rigs/indicators in the Miller's Bears-Den for monster browns... to "remote" ponds in New Hampshire. Im stoked! It is mid February, and although the forcast says snow, my mind is telling me #18 stonelies in the Nissitissit!!!
Oh yeah, the entire outfit (after I nail-knotted on a 5X 7.5 ft leader) was about 250 bucks! Not bad for a fast-action, high performance rod. I plan on losing a bunch of flies to the overhangs in which I'll be in this year, so plenty of 5X tippit is in my vest also.
Ive been going over my topo maps, tying up barbless nymphs and wet-flies, and I'm REELING TO GO.
Is it time to start posting reports yet!
