I've been fly fishing for trout on Cape Cod kettle ponds for 3 years now. I've caught dozens of trout on streamers and buggers but have never even tied on a dry fly before. I've seen the midge hatches before but have never really noticed if there were ever any mayfly or caddis hatches (never really looked for them). I'm guessing that there are, but enough to take note of and target trout with imitations is what I'm wondering. Any insight would be great. Thanks

When I was a kid I had one great day on a Plymouth kettle pond with a black gnat and dark hendrikson using a bubble & fly. I literally lost count, but it had to be over twenty fish.

There were bugs everywhere on the water and the trout were jumping all over the place. I think that they were not too fussy about the pattern. It was just one of those days when all circumstances were perfect for a dry fly.
