Hi Folks, if you are like me you have had your day ruined by getting caught in the Deerfield during an unscheduled water release.
My question is... when the water is flying from Fife Brook Dam, does the flyfishing totally turn off. Too often I find my self (usually dry) walking from the banks of this river with the sound of whitewater crashing all around me. Then its off to the Millers or one of the smaller brooks (ie Pelham) for some brookies the size of a large shiner...
Ive heard a couple of old-timers tell me swinging big streamers near the shore is productive.... (as you probably dont want to be wading with a water release!!)
The Deerfield is a fairly convienient/easy drive when compared to the Westfield for me, and Im sick of "swimming with the fishes" in the tea-stained Millers... I just hate to turn my back on a river like the Deerfield when it isnt necessary (#$119)
