I was wondering if anyone knew of any nice trout streams in South Carolina. I am heading down there in a week and will be in land a ways with the family so saltwater is out of the question. But I might be able to sneak out for some freshwater. please let me know. Also has anyone ever heard of Groton Plantation?

Your best bet for good trout fishing is the above the Greenville,SC area...we call it the Upstate-a few locations are Jones Gap (native), Eastatowy river (stocked), Sumter National Forest home of the Chattooga River (stocked, and native sections)-White Water river (native)...these are just a few rivers/streams..in this area..the closer you get to the SC mountain areas that border NC and GA the better the trout...pick up the latest edition of Eastern fly fishing ....there is a great article on streams, locations and directions. If you find your self out of this Upstate area..dont even bother bringing your trout setups..maybe golf clubs instead...Good luck...

Hey hardtail, did a little research for you..Coastal Plains area. your best best for trout would be to travel into GA.. Groton Plantation is located in Hampton/Allendale counties..a huge Hunting area..and horse back riding location..there is a 200+ acre lake in Hampton county:::::
"Fishing Information: Enjoy fishing in the 200-acre Lake George Warren and the two-acre park lake for large mouth bass, brim, redbreast, crappie and catfish. A valid South Carolina fishing license is required."

The weather has been nice lately in this area..and the bass, brim, crappie are interested in being caught..woolly buggers, and Dahlberg divers could hold you over for your stay...I believe you will be able to find plenty of black water to keep you busy..
