I'm going to make some small tan and white foam "sandwiches" in an attempt to make some crabs for FLA - what's the best glue to bond two pieces of gurgler-style foam together? I'm figuring Goop or gel super glue...

That's what I close my 2mm foam Crease flies with. Probably a lot of other stuff would work too.

Try Plio bond, automotive glue works great. (#$119)

and the answer is...
Pliobond was a gooey disaster but Loctite gel super glue worked liked a charm. I now have three of the ugliest crab flies ever made. --127-3-

What one of my wholesalers (Wapsi Fly) recommends is a spray adhesive - it's 3M's "Super 77" general purpose adhesive. I have some on my bench but haven't worked with it yet. I have used super glue with great success on soft foam poppers when gluing up hooks in pre-slotted heads. Some of those bugs have withstood 20 or 30 fish with no signs of glue failure... Good luck.

It's basically plio bond/contact cement in a spray can. They both have their niche with foam flies. The 77 stuff is sometimes sold along with the foam that doesn't have a release paper adhesive backing. Release paper is best for applying silver/gold leaf. And again Any type of CA gel works great for sticking foam together. *Super Glue, *Zap a Gap, *Locktite it's all the same stuff.

I've been doing some fly line setup using AquaSeal. From what I have seen so far, it should work great for making crabs. I'm using crab coins for the crabs I'm making at the moment but plan to try AquaSeal with the next Furry Foam crabs I make.
I don't like the super glues because it dries brittle.
Has anyone else tried AquaSeal?

Usually Zap-a-Gap works for most flies, but there are foams that will disintegrate when it's  applied. Zap-a-Gap for gurglers & Crease flys seems to be the quickest drying & only needs a small amount to bond together
2-sided tape works well too. Get the real thin stuff though, not the carpet tape.
I use super glue.
