Cape Cod Tiger Muskie

Hi,

I read that there were Tiger Muskies in Lake Wequaquet, form the Mass Fisheries website.

Can anyone confirm the rumor? Is it just casting practice or keep hope alive?

I figure in the next few weeks will be a good time to try for them, or to travel off Cape for Northern Pike, but at this stage in the year would rather get skunked locally.

I know there are Pike there but never heard of Tigers. Here is the link of stocked Tiger and Pike waters over the last decade

I've caught pike at Wequaquet, and a tiger elsewhere. I don't think I would go anywhere in the state to specifically target tigers.

I've only caught one Tiger Muskie in my life, and it was in Arlington when I was a kid fishing for carp with bread or oatmeal or something.

I think I called it a retarded pickerel - which probably cursed me for life.

Be nice to target pike again, hopefully use up some of the perch patterns I have.

I can confirm that they're there...we caught one in one of the back bays one evening on a black Culprit...I inquired about it at the Sports Port in Craigville Beach and they told me they were placed in there a few years ago to keep down the Panfish population.

It's a great lake, alot of nice size Largemouth in there as well, you just have to know where to look :brow

There are some HUGe ones in Mass too. We were at the Worcester show and they were giving out the Gov cups for FW fish. Most of the folks had there catches mounted and on hand. The N Pike and the Tiger Musky were standing side by side getting a pic taken together.........HUGE !!!!!! I never would have expected fish of that size / type locally. Must have been quite the surprise for them.
