When I was growing up in the sixties the woods and meadows behind my parents house was home to ring-necked pheasants, quail, and partridge. Those species are long gone. I am contemplating the feasibility of reintroducing stock back into the area. My short list of questions pertain to cost, vendors, and potential trouble with the law seeing as I don't own the property.

I don't know the answers to your questions ,but it's a cool idea. some of the places I used to hunt wild pheasant when I was a kid are condo's townhouses and a golf coarse now. be nice to see a few places where they still existed .I miss them.

The habitat I am looking to stock hasn't changed all that much in the last forty years. Most of the land is owned by a radio station and a power generating plant. There are also wetlands that probably will avoid being developed.

Best to start with a call to Masswildlife. There are specific regulations around the possession and release of game birds. See for example 2.12

Thank you very much Errol. I can't say I enjoyed wading through the legal jargon, but it was a great find on your part and a very helpful 1st post! I will call the Massachusetts authorities and see what they have to say. Thanks again!- Del
