these people are idiots.
anyone ever hear about how one of the higher-ups in PETA uses some medicine to control her diabetes which is derived form cows or pigs somehow and then goes out and protests against ANY use of ANY animal products? Too bad she dosent practice what she preaches. This was talked about on the show from penn and teller called bull$hit, check you tube for it, it is a great example of how many of the higher ups in PETA are complete hypocrites.
and also, I believe (but I could be incorrect) most scientists have determined that fish lack a brain with the nessacary higher funtions to feel pain. Could have sworn I read that somewhere.

who gives a damn if THEY do feel pain, it's a fish and their there for our plessure to empale with our favorite fleye, plug, jig, rubber, plastic, bait ( though not for us purist ) live or dead, anything you can think of that uses a hook, and I'm going through withdrawals right about this time of year, for lack of a pain in the mouth fish.

do the fish even have the brain capacity to feel pain in the same way humans of even mammals do? i'm sensitive to most real animal cruelty, but i draw that line at fishing

not sure on this but i think fish do feel pain but there is no nerves in the mouth area because of all the spiny food they eat.

I just love this quote:
"You know, fish really are sensitive, they have personalities, they hurt when they’re wounded.”
Bass and basset hounds, cods and collies, all animals treasure their lives and feel pain."
The only thing that gives a Grouper personality is a hook in its mouth or tarter sauce and a fresh roll. :brow

I like the quote "Never Feel Guilty About Tricking a Fish into Attacking Something it Perceives as Being Smaller and Weaker than Itself." We usually release the fish we catch but still, it's the food chain i guess.

 Speciesist???????? The term "speciesism" was cooked up by a brit in the bathtub, no doubt the bathing cap was a bit too tight...you just can't make stuff like this up! I will NOT be teaching this word to any of my three (soon to be fishing enthusiast) kids..... :)

People can justify any position they choose to take.
Me? I just think of all the happy cute little baitfish I am saving....they are so cuddly compared to big bad predatory fish like cod, stripers & the particularly evil Tuna.
I am part of the food chain too, and quite grateful to be the last link.

Pay very close attention to what these people say. They are smart and VERY committed to their radical agenda. They are not going away, ever. Nature abhors a vacumn. Just as the ocean cockroach (dogfish) fills the void left by cod and haddock, the tofu munching moonbat will fill the void left by fisherman who do not fight to retain their place at the top of the foodchain. We all (myself certainly included ) need to get more involved and fight to preserve our right to fish as it will, I fear, be coming under under ever increasing attack in the future.
