There are some 'so so' rivers and creeks closer to home (for you)...but some of the better ones are out in the middle of the state, such as the Miller's River and the Deerfield. I only have limited experience fishing out that way. But, from Quincy, if you head north on 128 until you hit RT2 west for about an hour to an hour and a half, you'll be in the area in question. There are a couple of shops where you can get updated information on the fishing, such as Flaggs in Orange and he can give you some better local info. Fwiw, the Miller's River along with it's trout fishing is right along Rt 2 as you travel through Orange and Erving.
If travelling that far doesn't cut it for you, there are sections of the Sudbury and Charles River that are stocked with trout. Also, the tribs that run into Wachusetts Res also have trout...but keep in mind that the res itself isn't open to fishing until at least April 1 (provided that the ice is gone).
