View Full Version : Fly rod storage?
How do you guys store your fly rods? I've got some in tubes, some in socks and some with nothing.......I was thinking of a little project involving 25 inch sections of PVC pipe and the roof of my garage......your thoughts?? Sped
I store mine in the tubes they came in, all with socks. I have 2 sets of horizontal rod holders, one on the ceiling and the other on the wall, in the back entry to my house. When I am frequently using a rod(s) I clean them and store them in the racks.
I also store all my spinning outfits in the rod holders. If you don't have rod tubes you can buy them through St. Croix in a wide variety of sizes pretty inexpensively

I built 2 rod racks that store the rods vertically in the socks and tubes they came in. They are easy to build and it keeps the rods out of the way in a small space. You just want to make sure that they are dry before you put them back in the tubes.

I keep most of my rods in their cases, but my trout rod pretty much stays out year-round. I use it so much that I always leave the line strung up with a fly tied on. Any rods that aren't in their cases are either stuck up in racks in the ceiling of my basement or in a rod rack my wife got me for my birthday last year.
The fact that I have 4 different methods for storing my rods should clue you in to how many I have... ;)
