yup, in the mystic river, just past the tobin bridge on the harbor side of the bridge. 200-300 birds crashing something. looks just like a bluefish or schoolie blitz. must be those worms people mentioned on another similar thread i guess. either that or theres a school holdovers going nuts. oh, wait, I dont see slappy's kayak. must just be those worms.

regardless, its fun to watch. wont be long before we see them over fish :)

I just put in a call to my winter storage center to "Get my boat ready" I'll be picking it up in 2 weeks.

Last Thursday there were birds working in Dorchester Bay. If they were picking up worms, they were big worms - 3" or so. They were definitely picking up something worm-like - I was on the water, but could not get close enough to see exactly what they were picking up. It was very close to dead low tide. Not a huge tide though - this Monday's afternoon low tide was a big low tide, that's for sure.

Pounding on smelt probably. I have seen rather large pollock chasing smelt in the Danvers river a few years back. I know it sounds crazy but its true. !!

Report in the Gloucester paper the other day indicated large numbers of birds working in Ipswich bay over 2 1/2' long pollock. my guess is its pollock.
