I am interested in anyone with first hand experience with the remote control bow mounted saltwater trolling motors from either Motorguide or Minn Kota.

I am a little skeptical about them, especially in the breaking down dept., but they sure look convenient. Especially if you fly fish alone. I have always tended to prefer the KISS of a tiller motor. Curious about anyone's experiences.

My firend has a 24V Minn Kota on an 18' flats boat and loves it. The areas where I have found it the most useful is fishing bridges ot other structure in current where you want to fish off the back of the boat. Having a standard bow mount with handle would require somone stay up there to hold position.

As for durability my firend fishes 20+ hours a week, mostly on teh trolling motor, and I belive has only had 1 problem in 3 years and that may have been battery related. He does carry the foot pedal attachement as a back up.

If I were looking at trolling motors, remote control would be a requirement.
