I'd like to thank all those folks who took the time to give me some excellent advise about purchasing a first time boat (esp. dfhubbard). I'd also like to apologize to every boat seller who's time I wasted looking at their boat. Everyone was super helpful and went out of their way to explain things. In the end, with the price of the toys and my own ignorance, I kind of chickened out. I wound up joining a boat club. They have several types and sizes of boats. After this season, I should know exactly what I want in a boat (and what I can't afford).

So, If you are around the Merrimac river and see a lone fly fisherman in a brand new boat who obviously knows nothing about boating, that would be me. Stop by and say, "Hello" but keep a safe distance.

Thanks again for all the help.

offered by Beverly Power Squadron and you'll know what you're doing! It's worthwhile for your safety (and ours), confidence, and the local knowledge that they'll give you. You won't regret it, it's time well spent!

You can check the schedule for courses in your area at the USPS website:
