Thanks in advance for any info. :-%Don't know about the Australian models, but I have a TFO 375, not sure if it is the same one you are talking about, but it is smooth as silk, stood up to heavy striper fishing all last season.
Couldn't ask for more. Obviously you would need the larger one for the 15wt.

I can't speak to the comparison to the original, but I bought one last year for the same reasons as yours. Still waiting for a tug from a tuna though. I've taken the reel apart and examined it closely. It appears well and ruggedly built. The cork drag is large and the two anti reverse pawls and gear seem substantial.

The hard anodizing is amazing. I don't have a reel bag for it. And despite a season of salt spray and banging around in rod racks and cockpits, the finish looks like the day I took it out of the box. A simple freshwater rinse at the end of the day is all I've ever done to it. There's not a speck of corrosion on it.

I also have the TFO 375s and 425s. They are not the same reel design, but have held up better than some of my $$ bling reels for inshore work.

Jim, if you know Josko, you might give him an ask, I think he has quite a few YFT plus a billie or 3 on the big TFO Hayden.

From a quality standpoint, I am pretty certain they are actually better than the hand-made jobbies. The CNC tolerances are tighter, the finishing more consistent, and they are backed by a company with an impeccable reputation for customer service.

Thanks for the reply. The Hayden looks like a "reel" nice product.
I do know Josko.... and I will be sure to get his report. (probably a very analytical report ;) )
Hopefully, I'll get to meet you also .... the next time you are up to NY for steelhead or salmon. :)
btw: that is a great warranty indeed!
