Any one havethis reel?
What type of braid capcity does it have?
and what lb braid are you using?
I'm figuring on using a 100yd 100lb top shot.
Thanks, Bill

I would go 80lb vraid to a 60lb topshot (momoi diamond) and probably get about 400 yards of braid plus the 100 yard top shot (maybe more). The TLD 25 is a great reel, however, it does nothave the balls to fish 100lb.

Thanks............all good stuff.
The only reason for the heavy top shot is "Blue Fish",
I've been have the blues trash 50lb flouro while striper fishing.

I can get 700 yards of 30 mono or 600 yards of 40# mono on a TLD. MY guess is you can get 700 ore more yards of 80# braid on a TLD but why.
As stated the reel does not have the ability to put out more than 12 or 14# of drag - with more than 2 or 300 yards of line out and dragging in the water its going to be game over unless your real good at backing down ;).
Great reel - I'd put a base of dacron on; add 3 or 400 yards of braid and a 100# topshot of 60 or 80 mono and avoid spending a fortune filling it w/ braid.

Great advice Larry. I made this mistake with the first TLD 25 I purchased and after spending a fortune spooling it with braid I scratched my head and vowed to never again do it again. This summer I'll be transferring the perfectly good braid to my striper reels and putting momoi mono on the TLD.

For what it's worth:
Last year I fought a 100 pounder with 18lbs of drag on the TLD. The drag was measured with a scale.
The reel handled the fight fine.

Yeah, we beat a fish that went 125 on a TLD 25 spooled with 50 momoi. The reel had the fish at the boat in 15 minutes. I think it's a fine reel as long as your dealing with fish under 200 lbs.

It is a fine reel for fish up to 150 and maybe 200lbs there is no argument about that. There is no need to fish a football field worth of 100lb mono as it would be a waste of capacity. 18lbs of drag woudl be just about 1/3 breaking strength of 60lb mono which would give you 200 yards of mono over your braid so you could stay connected to a biog fish for longer before getting dumped.
