I've been teaching my 5 year old to fish for the past few years.He recently broke a cheap zebco. I upgraded him to a rhino rsc3 reel and rod. Looked pretty good when I purchased it. I cast it a few times and it was working good. He was doing well with it for the first 1/2 hr. After that for some reason the reel was very finiky about releasing line after the button was released. He kept on smashing the lure against the rocks because the line was not exiting when the button was released. I tried it thinking he was doing something wrong and I had the same issue. It seems like you have to release the button just right for the thing to work. If you try to cast too hard it seems to lock up.
Anyone have this reel and experience the same issue? Everything I read on the internet is possitive about this reel. I'm going to see how he does with a small open face spinning reel. That would probably be the best option. These spin casting things seem to be junk.
