looking for a bonefish destination in October...

My wife and I have a few days off in October and I need some advice on were to go. i would like to get 1 day of flyfishing for bones in on my vacation. Any advice? thanks. wittich

If you only have a few days for vacation, I'd say that your best bet would be the Bahamas. You might try Marsh Harbor on Abaco and try to get ahold of Ronnie Sawyer for a guide, or maybe Grand Bahama and fish a day with one of the Pinders. Either location will offer something for your wife to do while you fish.

I gather it's a vacation with one day of fishing...for that purpose then i would agree with the GBI suggestion; I have used Tommy Rolle/Folley fishing out of the westend and he picks you up at Lucaya; however, I would also suggest Key West...crunch the total cost of your trip for each...destination...including food and drink!! most flats guides KW are still at 500. GBI are now at 350-400. everytime I crunch the total numbers for a four nite stay with two days of fishing, food ,drink, transportation door to door, lodging..it's parity but you have in KW in October a good chance for any of the three and 20-70 lb resident KW tarpon will give you... IMHO...better action on a fly rod than any bonefish wherever caught; moreover, if the weather blows..got more to do in KW unless it's casino entertainment for you all...
