My wife and I are planning a trip to South America in January (first time there).

Admittedly, I do not do much flyfishing. I am a fan of a several members of this forum as well as a charter captain and read it often. I have just set up my screenname so I can ask find out some information from you experienced fisherman.

I would like to do a charter somewhere down there. I do not know what the best fishing might be at that time of the year or what fish I should chase. I'm guessing sailfish? Marlin? etc?

Can anyone share any experience they have had and/or possibly the name of a good charter in one of the areas I've mentioned? Prefer regular rod and reel and not fly. I just can't seem to get the skill downpat.

Thanks for a terrific forum to help each other. This really is a nice site.

I have not fished down ther, but they sure have some huge Peacock bass (fresh water) that I would love to target.. Send Jorge an email, he may be able to direct you.

He showed some neat fish on a rod building site, I belong to.
