View Full Version : Crease Fly Time
With the hard tails showing now, it's time to make some new crease flies!
Here's a few I've been working on. The larger ones are about 2 inches and smaller ones about 1 inch. The smaller ones are also lightly coated with epoxy but not too heavy.

Hey, with your upcoming events will you have time to use those? If in doubt, ship them to me --127-3-
Very nice! I am hoping to see some hard tails next week on the South Side, but I am not really planning on looking too hard. Maybe off of Morris or the West side of N. Monomoy? We'll see. How well are they showing at South Cape Beach?
Last winter, at the fly tying symposium, I met up buzfly - he was one of the featured tyers. Great guy! Anyhow, his method for constructing crease flies was way faster than mine (particularly in terms of gluing). I remain appreciative of the tip.

Ray,
I've had problems in the past with un-epoxied crease flies "blowing out" after a while.. what I mean is the foam around the mouth eventually fails after getting sucked under from too many backcasts. Do you have similar problems? I'm just wondering if its the foam I'm using.

Tom,
I use Loco Foam which is more durable than regular old foam. The epoxy makes the fly pretty tough. But you need to be careful not to put too much on which can make the pattern sink.

Well seeing the wedding is on the Vineyard I may have to run out a few times during the weeks to get milk at that new market on Lobsterville Beach ;)
Strangely they're only open from 7 - 11 in the morning, then again around 12 - 4am

Hey, here's to setting the bar high on you...
I was fishing w/ a fellow RT'er earlier this month. Die hard... His idea of a late start is 3am. Worse yet he's bright eyed, bushy tailed, and smiling. Why? Glad you asked.... His wife gets up and makes him a hot breakfast.
I catch h$ll if I accidentally wake my wife. I of course protested for equal treatment. She responded well, they have only been married 3 years. But hey, I didn't get that the first 3. Seems I should be entitled to 3 years + interest now!
Anyhow, if you want to be king of the hill you'll need to shoot for hot breakfast, packed lunch, and perhaps a cleaned and streched line

Lets not forget that all weekend trips and romantic getaways have to be planned with fishing in mind. The best is when she calls me at work to see which beach I'm planning on fishing so that she can show up and lay out a picnic dinner.
