Any reports on how Ambergris Caye, Belize is fishing, post-Dean? I understand damage was minimal, unlike some areas across the border in Mexico. I have a trip booked to El Pescador in a month. Also, I am planning to make a contribution to relief efforts for those more severely affected to the north. Anyone happen to know any worthy groups that could use a bit of a boost? I have been in contact with the International Red Cross and probably will give to them, but I was wondering if there were any legitimate local charities that might need a bit of help.

You are correct, damage in Belize was not as bad as that North of the landfall (Chetumal Bay). But, I might suggest contacting Bob Stevenson (bob@elpescador.com) who is usually good at answering e-mail- although he might be a little busy.
Good luck- post a report- El P is on my list and I'd love to hear some more about it.

How very noble of you. Not too sure how far your contribution would go however! The whole of the papaya and sugar cane crops were demolished around cozumel which took the brunt of it. People's livihoods have been swept away for about 12 months for those who rely on farming for a living. Hope you have deep pockets!
