It may be a white or a basking shark. I can't tell from the picture.

Did you get close enough to cross off a mola?

The fin looks like it is slanting like a mola.

Saturday we were 10 miles off Chatham in a hundred foot of water and got up close and personal with a great white about 15'-16'. Same dorsal fin. He came up about 2-3' off our transome hung out for 3-4 minutes then left. BIG fish...!!! Left the dam camera at the house of course. Saw a smaller shark on Crab. No tuna for us--124-3. But we did hit some nice FA's later in the day on fly rods:brow.

the pic was from sat it was a shark I was on the boat the tail came out about 8-9 feet from the fin but couldnt get close enough to see the fish in the water. I think we also saw the one 10 miles out grey with white under, close to the same size as the first one ,busting tuna around it great show

I do not see a tail. That is the first thing I look for when I see a dorsal to eliminate Shark from Mola.

definately not a mola we did get close enough to catch a glimse of the tail. when we spooked it it looked like we dropped a truck in the water. we also saw a large shark on crab ledge later on in the day, maybe the same one 15+'. also definately not a mola.

Looks like a white to me as well... There have been a number of sightings of whites in that area... About the same size as well.

I saw a basking in that general area on Saturday that was around the same size. The dorsal looks like the one in the picture.

my friend had one come up and hang in his spread on saturday 5 miles north of the sword on saturday while he was alone in his 21'er. Same shark maybe?
