I was surfing around trying to figure out if Smooth made washers for the 12000 and came across this:
Spheros Upgrade (http://www.bluewater.net.au/catalog/product_info.php?products_id=397&osCsid=c4f43cf080a62bd143af9d9f798172eb)
It looks cool but it may not be worth doubling the cost of a price point reel.
FWIW, I ordered some of those fancy carbonite or whatever 14000 sized washers and will see if they fit in my 12000...The woman at Smooth Drag wasn't sure if they would work but said she'd give me a refund if they didn't. I'll be sure to report back.
I wish my Penn 9500 cast better...I don't know how many tuna I have hung on that reel (more than 20 though) and the stock HT100 drag is still kicking

I hate giving out all my useful sites, but check out Caranx dot com.....world wide haven of extreme spin fisherman.
Do some searching and they have a some very good tips on different upgrades-tweaks you can do to the Spheros. Mind you the spheros is considered minimally servicable for most of their applications.
And for ground breaking tech on new rods and grinders, there is no other place to browse.

interesting stuff guys. thanks
If they dont have the drag washers for any reel listed, smooth drag will try to match drag washers in stock to the ones in any reel, if you send them your originals. I talked to the woman today, Im sending her some from a sustain 8000 to try to upgrade that reel.
and, although they arent listed, they have washers for the stradic 8000, I ordered some today. The drag on my stradic 8000 went south sunday after landing about 8 fish. funny thing is, it landed a 52" fish without a problem 2 weeks ago and I hadnt used it since. I took it out sunday, checked the drag with the scale we use and the drag let go halfway through the pull. thank god i checked it, id have been spooled if it let go seconds after hooking a fish.

sorry boys, it's a dot net. and it's in some outer space languages, poke around a bit on the main page and there is a way to get it in english. I have it bookmarked and forget the exact route you need to take.
But, it's well worth the effort. You can learn about gear over the other side of earth that we can't even get--well almost can't get.
