Going to Atlantic Beach for a week starting on 10-20-07. Hope to do some Redfish and Trout. Was there last year in November, no Albies but did get some nice Trout and Reds and met a lot of great people. The question of the day is would it be worth a trip to the Hook to see if any Albies might be around.

Thanks in advance for any reply's or info.

absolutely...
they've been catching some already, from beaufort inlet to cape lookout jetty and cape lookout shoals. so you may have a chance at them at the hook, always worth the effort. the ones being caught right now are smaller, 6-8lbs and a lot of them are feeding on micro bait, so bring some small flies along with the silverside size patterns. maybe the big ones will be in by the time you get here, we've been getting a lot of NE wind and the temps are starting to drop. BonefishDick,
If you are staying in Atlantic Beach, you may want to trailer over to Harker's Island and put in there. That way you can fish the backwater for Trout and Reds behind Cape Lookout, then sneak over to Barden's Inlet (the Hook) and see what is happening. Last year I did that and when the wind was kicking, I would stay inside and catch Specs. I caught my first Specs ever last year and had a ball. The Red's have eludded me so far, I know they are there.
I love the area though!
