Oaffortwo, OH FOR TWO, 0-2 no matter how I write it, it still stinks. Yesterday I went out into the Bay with Jeff and Bob. We launched around noon (we all had morning obligations) We ran all over creation and back.
We launched out of PLymouth and headed towards the old BE bouy. We ran to the NEW BE bouy, then south to just about Nauset. From there we ran north on another depth curve. In that area we found a few scattered pods of fish feeding on micro bait in some weed mats. We did get two boils on the Polish lures but the fish were few and far between. On the way back we hit Peaked Hill, Race Point, then down into the bay to check reports of a mega blitz. We hit the CC bouy, Fishing Ledge, over to Manomet and finally back to Plymouth.
I keep hearing rumors/reports of this killer mega blitz in the bay. But the funny thing is both myself and several other guides were in the areas at the time of the "blitz" and saw nothing. It seems like today when I was on the SW corner and the radio was a blaze about a killer giant feed on top ON THE SW CORNER. There were a few boats there and we were in them, but no giant feed of giants for us. Not saying they were notthere, but I'm thinking it miight have been a bit overstated.
Today I have Tim and crew on the boat. We splashed in PLymouth around 0730 and never really saw anything (including land) for the next 4 hours. We ran in pea soup fog to Race Point, down south to PH (saw on fish roll on top) then south to yesterdays micro bait eating fish. Saw 2 whales and 2 basking sharks. Back to RP for the slack tide show that consisted of 3 more tuna rolling on top 1 time each.
At 1130 I fell on the sword and begged the guys to let me take them home. We bagged the trip and called it a wash. There was no sign of the fog letting up and no sign of the fish showing up. 3 other boats I was in contact with from the SW corner to Wildcat to Fishign Ledge all saw nothing.
So by noonish we were back on the trailer with no fish fog wet cloths and a wicked case of sea legs from staring at the radar in zero vis and 3-5' swells out back.
Final tally 0 fer 2 DAYS.
Nothing really worked, cuz we didn't have any fish to speak of. Unless something REALLY changes BIG TIME. I'm going striper fishing.......here pogie pogie pogie :brow
